Quick Bites: A Mobb Deep-inspired brewery comes to ATL, Hilary White leaves Serenbe’s the Hil, Landon Thompson heads to Savannah and more

IN WITH THE NEW: Chef Hilary White will close the Hil in Serenbe next month to open Bistro Hilary in Senoia, Georgia.

After nine years, chef/owner Hilary White is leaving restaurant the Hil at Serenbe. White’s last day of service is Fri., Dec. 22, but the restaurant will re-open its doors Jan. 2 with Brandon Blanchard, CEO of Serenbe Hospitality, taking over operations. White and her manager husband Jim are moving to Senoia, Georgia along with their entire staff to open a new French spot called Bistro Hilary.

Get ready for a new brewery, ATL. Three Taverns brewmaster Joren Van Ginderachter is now brewing temporarily at Monday Night Brewing. But this summer, along with cofounders Shawn Bainbridge and Tim Kilic, he opens Halfway Crooks Brewing and Blending (whose moniker is inspired by Mobb Deep lyrics) at Georgia Avenue’s Summerhill development. Square Feet Studio will design the barrel-aging space with a bar.

Former Cooks and Soldiers executive chef Landon Thompson has a new gig in Savannah. El Coyote, serving “handcrafted Mexican” fare will open early next year, according to Thompson. The site is the former location of Hugh Acheson’s the Florence, which closed in late June of this year.

Midtown’s mini food hall, the Canteen (75 5th St. NW), now serves Sunday brunch. Chow down on a pastrami and egg sandwich or a breakfast laffa along with a latte or brunch cocktail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Westside’s Brash Coffee is opening a second location in Buckhead. The spot, which sources beans directly from farmers, will set up shop next month inside the Atlanta History Center next to Souper Jenny, according to Instagram.

Henri’s Bakery and Caf̩ has been serving treats to Atlanta since 1929. This week, they reintroduced a favorite from the very beginning. Stop in to either the Buckhead (56 E. Andrews Dr.) or Sandy Springs (6289 Roswell Rd.) location to grab some of their original recipe doughnuts.

In more Buckhead news, Bar Crema and Bar Americano, from the team behind the Mercury, the Pinewood, and Deep End, are now open at 56 East Andrews Dr. Executive chef Adam Waller helms the kitchen of “reinvented Italian classics” and beverage director John Fogleman heads up the espresso, coffee, cocktails, and gelato. Expect lunch service in the next few weeks.

Hey, lemon pesto lovers! Ponce City Market favorite Bella Cucina expanded its kitchen and lifestyle brand to the Shops Buckhead Atlanta this past weekend.

The brother and sister duo behind dairy-free (but tasty-full) Revolution Gelato celebrated their last day in East Atlanta’s Global Grub Collective this past Saturday. Jared Olkin and Leah Sitkin are “actively exploring options for their next location,” according to a press release. They’ll continue their wholesale, catering, festival, and pop-up scooping until they find a new space, hopefully next summer.

Atlanta’s first craft brewery, Red Brick Brewing Co. has a new collaboration with the Georgia Aquarium. Sea Otter Stout releases Fri., Dec. 1 with proceeds benefitting research and conservation efforts for the cuddly aquatic weasels. They are throwing a party, too, at the brewery this Fri., Dec. 1 from 4-10 p.m. The theme is Holiday Morning, so wear your jammies, sip some brews, and bring a gift for Toys for Tots (in exchange for a $5 gift card).

It’s #GivingTuesday! Find a way to eat and drink and give back. Here are a few places to begin: Farm Burger will give a percentage of sales to “those in need” within the community. At Red Pepper Taqueria (both locations) 100 percent of nacho sales will benefits 100 Black Men of Atlanta’s Project Success youth program that provides mentoring and education support in Atlanta public schools.
