WHO:  The Foo Fighters and the Struts.

WHERE:  Georgia State Stadium.

WHEN:  April 28,2018.

WHY: The Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, played to a packed-out crowd of over 32,000 people for the inaugural concert at Georgia State Stadium. British quarter the Struts opened the show.

Touring in support of their 9th album, Concrete and Gold, the Foo Fighters’ set list brought a comprehensive run through older and newer material. Songs such as “Run,” “All My Life,” and “There Goes My Hero” set the night in motion. They played the hits along with a cover of Alice Cooper’s “Under My Wheels” with guitarist Chris Shiflett taking over lead vocal duties. It was the beginning of a mini marathon of covers including Van Halen’s “Jump” set to the tune of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” the Ramone’s “Blitzkrieg Bop,” and Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure.” For the latter number, the Struts’s singer Luke Spiller joined Foo Fighter’s drummer Taylor Hawkins on vocals.

The Foo Fighters brought the show to a close with an introspective encore that ended with a cover of Mose Allison’s “Young Man Blues” followed by “Everlong” from their 1997 album, The Colour and the Shape.
