The African Americans on the Move Book Club Awards is hosting their annual Urban Book Bash for Atlanta’s avid readers. Enjoy food, drinks, music, and be in the company of fellow readers and writers. Attendees can meet with several notable black authors during a book signing, which will follow the event. Want more? Do you believe in MAGIC? While Kai Lin Art won’t be sawing people in half or pulling rabbits out of hats, they will be holding an art exhibition featuring various mediums. SCAD professor Larry Jens Anderson, photographer Greg Noblin, and painters Kevin Palme and Andrew Catanese immerse viewers into alternate universes and quiet spaces with a collection of paintings and photography. Furry friends are welcome at Patina Pictures’ Movies in the Bark, the first in a series of dog-friendly screenings. The film set the scene beside ParkGrounds dog park and there will be a puppy photo booth to capture the memorable moment. Guests can enjoy the film 101 Dalmatians from a comfy chair, with both a refreshing drink and a furry friend by their side. For those who enjoy hanging around establishments after hours but don’t want to get arrested for loitering? Fernbank Museum of Natural History is proud to present Fernbank After Dark: Life Hacks. The museum will allow visitors to explore after hours with fun activities and a film on a four-story screen. Craving some fresh air in the concrete jungle? The Museum of Design Atlanta is hosting a Collaborative Zine Making class, welcoming guests to a platform of creative expression. The High Museum of Art’s monthly Second Sunday is this weekend, with admission to the Museum being free every second Sunday of each month.
