A DOGGONE GOOD TIME: Movies in the Bark

Bring your furry friend for a day of cold beer and cuddles under the stars at Movies in the Bark. This Friday, your four-legged pal is sure to love seeing a puppy representation on the big screen as Patina Pictures shows Best In Show, a 2000’s canine cult classic. Grab your human ticket while you still can, but don’t worry about a ticket for the pup. Chairs are provided, leashes are required, and we’d insist that you go, but our bark is worse than our bite. $10. 8-11 p.m. Fri., June 29. ParkGrounds, 142 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. www.patinapictures.co/movies-in-the-bark/.

Drink for a cause with Planned Parenthood Southeast at the Paint the Village Pink bar crawl. Planned Parenthood Southeast’s East Atlanta Health Center has been open for almost a year, providing affordable health care to everyone who walks through its doors, so celebrate them in your most ridiculous pink ensemble. The ticket price includes admission to all of the bars, drink specials at each of the different places, and some sweet PP swag. The crawl starts at The Argosy, making stops at The Elder Tree, The Flatiron, and Mary’s. $15-$20. 8:30-11:30 p.m. Fri., June 29. Argosy, 470 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. https://ppse.ejoinme.org/EAVBarCrawl.

Enjoy a combination of poems and punchlines at the Madmen and Poets improv comedy show. Dad’s Garage teams up with the local Atlanta poetry community to bring you improv inspired by poetry, in the best crossover since Jason met Freddy. You won’t want to miss this night of witty comedy you can feel intellectual about enjoying. $14-$21.50. 8-9:30 p.m. Fri., June 29. Dad’s Garage Theatre, 569 Ezzard St. S.E. www.dadsgarage.com.

Bring the kids and Ponce City Market will bring a substantial amount of coffee legos at LEGOs and Joe. Dancing Goats, an ATL java favorite, has the hookup for the caffeine all parents desperately need by the end of the week, and MODA has the LEGOs for the little ones. It’s ten bucks for an kid+adult, which includes beverages. All proceeds go to providing campMODA scholarships to underserved kids in Atlanta. Donating to a good cause while enjoying the city’s best brew and the kids have a blast? Seems like a no-brainer to us. Recommended for children 4 years of age and up. $10. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sat., June 30. Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. N.E. http://www.museumofdesign.org/calendar/2018/4/28/legos-and-joe-at-ponce-city-market.

Celebrate International Sailor Moon Day hosted by Anime Weekend Atlanta, with cosplay contests, karaoke and crafts, oh my! And it doesn’t stop there — enjoy Sailor Moon Trivia, raffles, and local vendors selling merchandise inspired by the anime series. If your costume gets too hot, worry not — there will be Sailor Moon inspired drinks to keep you cool. Fight evil by moonlight and win love by daylight at one of the Atlanta Anime scene’s hottest events of the summer. Free. Noon-6 p.m. Sat., June 30. Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Conference Center, 2450 Galleria Pkwy. www.facebook.com/events/572747279759473/?active_tab=about.

If you still aren’t convinced, the DeKalb County Board of Health will be offering free and confidential HIV testing outside the theatre with a GIF photo booth. So basically, it’s a night of comedy for a good cause- and we’ll see you there. $10. 11 p.m.-midnight. Sat., June 30.
