SUBTITLES OFF: AWA brings classic Japanese storytelling to life in ATL.

Kamehameha! Anime Weekend Atlanta, commonly known as AWA, returns to the city to celebrate anime, manga, and cosplay — globally adored classic gems of Japanese culture. According to Anime Con, the annual family-friendly event is among the top-ten attended anime conventions in the country. AWA will be jam-packed with activities including fan panels by famous voice actors, actresses, and illustrators, video game room and arcade, anime viewing room, tabletop gaming tournaments, and concerts by Japanese musicians. Also, the Kuma Kuma Maid Cafe will be serving up sweet kawaii-inspired treats. Original works of fan art will be available to take home in the Artists Alley. Bring some extra cash and snag limited-edition fandom merchandise from the Dealer’s Room. There will even be a costume contest for guests to show off original cosplay creations. Attendees can keep the celebration going after the sun goes down at the Saturday rave-style dance party, or simply run around Naruto-style. Your choice.

$15-$75. Various times. Thurs.-Sun., Sept. 20-23. Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center, 2450 Galleria Pkwy. S.E. https://awa-con.com/.
