FATHER KNOWS BEST: Awful Records founder Father surprised the crowd at the Barkery Tuesday night with a few songs from his new mixtape.

On Tues., Sept. 18, Father and the rest of the Awful Records crew hosted a victory celebration to mark a new collaboration with Adult Swim. Father’s new mixtape, Awful Swim, arrives Sept. 21 via Adult Swim. Father is also slated to perform at the Adult Swim Festival taking place at ROW DTLA Oct. 5-7.

Tuesday night’s Awful Swim Block Party at the Bakery featured performances from various acts from Awful Records’ roster including Big Baby Scumbag, along with other acts Larry League. DJs Babyspider and Rosstwotwo kept the crowd warm between performances. Father himself (pictured above) and Danger Incorporated surprised the crowd with a few songs as well.

Awful has been busy this summer. They signed a creative partnership deal with RCA in June, giving Awful more freedom and tools to expose the artists they sign to the masses.

Father plays the Masquerade (Hell) on Mon., Nov. 12, with Danger Incorporated, and more. $18 (adv). 7 p.m. (door). 75 MLK Jr. Drive SW. 404-577-8178. www.masq.com.
