For this week's Fear of Fear podcast, CL Music Editor Chad Radford and Atlanta-based composer Gregorio Franco talk about the music of Goblin.

For anyone who couldn’t get tickets to the sold-out Halloween show, or for those who couldn’t get enough, Goblin co-founder, composer, and keyboard player Claudio Simonetti returns for an encore performance. Simonetti, guitarist Bruno Previtali, bass player Cecilia Nappo, and drummer Titta Tani bring a rock ’n’ roll stage presence to Goblin’s Italian prog/horror soundtrack legacy. The group plays live to Dario Argento’s witchy 1977 classic, Suspiria — all the spectral breathing sounds and “la la la”s are wholly chilling in person. Stick around for a greatest-hits set that touches on soundtracks to everything from Deep Red to Dawn of the Dead and beyond.

$25-$30. 8 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 6. Aisle 5, 1123 Euclid Ave. N.E. www.aisle5atl.com.

Check out a gallery of photos from Goblin's Oct. 1, 2013 North American debut at the Loft, and read Chad Radfor's feature story, "Goblin lives! After 40 years, the masters of Italian horror come Stateside."

While assembling CL’s 2019 Music Issue, I was only vaguely aware of a few loose threads that could tie the whole issue together. It was during my conversation with Drivin N Cryin frontman and principal songwriter Kevn Kinney that the answer revealed itself. Kinney and I talked about his early days in Atlanta, hanging out in his apartment with the members of Milwaukee punk band Die Kreuzen, who,... | more...
