Friday, February 8
Peter Murphy 40 Years of Bauhaus, Ruby Celebration featuring David J.
The arrival of Bauhaus’ 1980 debut LP, In the Flat Field, heralded a muscular and sophisticated new chapter in the annals of British post-punk. The band from rural Northampton is hailed for kicking the coffin lid open on the so-called goth movement. But to fixate on iconic frontman Peter Murphy’s vampy traipse denies the empowering glam-punk strut and rhythms coloring songs such as “Kick in the Eye,” “Dark Entries,” and “Stigmata Martyr.” Celebrating Bauhaus’ 40th anniversary, Murphy, along with bass player and fellow founding member David J, revisit In the Flat Field start-to-finish, followed by a greatest hits set. Drummer Marc Slutsky and guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite fill out the lineup for this tribute to Bauhaus’ Ruby anniversary. Read Chad Radford’s feature story, “Bauhaus: A ruby celebration.” SOLD OUT. 7 p.m. The Masquerade (Heaven).

Seishun Con 2019 (Feb 8-10)
Seishun Con is Atlanta’s wintertime fan-driven convention focusing on Japanese culture, anime, and manga. This year mark’s Atlanta’s ninth Seishun Con, and features seven rooms filled with 24 -hour programming, live music, discussion panels, and more. $30-$40. Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Superbody with Antarticats
While carrying the torch of the larger-than-life ’80s pop icons to new and meta heights, Superbody’s Greg Mccurry crafts dance tunes that ride the line between playboy fantasies and austere big-city dreams. Through this playful blend of tongue-in-cheek excess and relatability the young pop singer has garnered a cult following across the southeast and beyond. While Atlanta anticipates the follow up to Superbody’s 2017 debut, Youth Music, Mccurry tides over his awaiting audience with a new single, “Champagne,” out Feb. 8, followed by a show with
Antarticats. $10. 9:30 p.m. The Drunken Unicorn.

Sataraš Quartet
The Sataraš Quartet marks its debut performance at the Elliott Street Deli & Pub. Pronounced SAH - tah - rash, the group, featuring Edin “Eddie” Beho (guitar), Jeff Crompton (saxophone, clarinet, keyboard), Colin Bragg (bass, synths), and Blake Helton (drums, synths) plays Balkan tunes in odd time signatures, originals, otherworldly blues numbers, and jazz covers with varied textures and styles. $5 (suggested donation). 9 p.m..

Saturday, February 9
The Atlanta Oddities Market
If you’ve ever wanted a skull shaped letter opener or a die made of real bones, this may be the event for you. Mike Zohn, co-owner of Obscura Antiques, and creepy antique Instagram merchants are uniting some of the strangest and most unusual vendors to create one freaky market. There will also be a slideshow performance courtesy of renowned sideshow couple, Captain and Maybelle. Free. $10. 11 a.m. The Circus School of Atlanta.

Two Color Screen Printing Workshop.
Aaron Artrip leads another creative seminar, this time teaching you the basics of screen printing on paper with two colors. The presentation is meant for novices as it goes over introductory screen printing techniques using two colors. The event coasts $10 at the door, which covers all necessary materials. 12 p.m. The Bakery.

Video Age, True Blossom, Jackson MacIntosh, Karaoke, DJ Kale Svvick
Hailing from New Orleans, Ray Micarelli and Ross Farbe’s innovative collaboration Video Age creates irresistibly danceable tunes and addictive grooves. Combining strong elements of electro-funk and dance with disco leanings, Video Age harkens back to an era of uplifting flashy music that seems refreshing in our current climate. Micarelli and Farbe manage to elevate themselves to a level unattainable by other electronic outfits, often making it seem unbelievable the songs are coming from a duo rather than a full band. The duo’s latest offering, Pop Therapy, feels as if it were encapsulated in time, a true relic of synth-driven pop therapy for the weary. $10-$12. 9 p.m. 529

Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of the Dinosaurs
Flying reptiles that walked on their wings and flew with their fingers, pterosaurs are strange and mysterious creature. Fernbank takes you on a tour through the Mesozoic Era in an attempt to understand a little more about the largest flying animals that have ever lived. The exhibit runs through May 5, and features elusive fossils and casts, life size models, and digital interactives. Free with regular admission. 10 a.m. Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Sunday, February 10
Cool Winners: Alive & Out of Control
The Cool Winners are “Alive and Out of Control” with their brand of esoteric, always hilarious, blend of skit and stand-up comedy. If zany antics aren’t quite your vibe, they’re also joined by a handful of awesome local acts — rare demo, Madison & Keller, Suede Cassidy, and Trail Mix the Clown! Donations. 8 p.m. The Bakery

Sierra Hull, 10 String Symphony
Bluegrass has always been music from the heart, with a big dose of raw talent needed to do it right. Hull has both, and while only in her mid-20s, she is a seasoned veteran. Her first Opry performance occurred when she was 11! The mandolin is not an easy instrument to play, but watching Hull makes it seem so. She has amazing chops, a beautiful voice, and respect from her peers. — James Kelly $20-$40. 8 p.m. Variety Playhouse.

Some of you may know her for her hit song, "Cannabis Car," which helped expand her awareness of hemp across the nation. Aviva believes we should all be driving cars that run on cannabis and growing home hemp gardens for salads, paper, clothing. It may sound all a bit flower child, but did you know Henry Ford had cars running on hemp before it was outlawed in the US? If you're interested in... | more...
