Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert
Listen to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform John Williams’ epic live score to The Empire Strikes Back, set to a screening of the film. Even if you’ve seen this movie a hundred times, the ASO adds a new depth and theatrical element to the film, allowing the listener to experience the battle of Hoth, Luke’s training on Dagobah, and the lightsaber battle with Darth Vader in a new and thrilling way. ‘The Sound of Light’ at the Atlanta Science Festival
Among the first electronic instruments ever conceived, the theremin has had a long and tenured history of providing otherworldly and mysterious sounds to scores of sci-fi films and beyond. As part of this years Atlanta Science Festival, families will have the chance to learn about the science of this famous instrument, and build one of their own to take home. GG King, Mathis Hunter, Lucis Flux

Anoushka Shankar
While her sister Norah Jones may be the more commercially successful family member, Anoushka Shankar has followed in the footsteps of her father, the late Ravi Shankar, king of the sitar. Her mastery of one of the world’s most difficult instruments is impressive to say the least, and the hypnotic rhythms and melodies of traditional Indian classical music are incredibly intoxicating. Atlanta Saint Patrick’s Parade
The city’s longest-running event, the Atlanta Saint Patrick’s Parade, is currently in its 137th year. Since the parade’s inception it has cumulatively boasted over 2,000 participants, 700 musical acts, 100 parade units, and 80,000 spectators. Show off your Irish pride as you march through the heart of Midtown. Free. 12 p.m. Peachtree St. in Midtown

The Science of Wine
If you want to be a little more classy this St. Patrick’s Day, City Winery is hosting a private wine class as a part of the Atlanta Science Festival. Learn about vineyard biology, the science of winemaking, and taste two flights of wine, all courtesy of winemaker Travis Green. The class concludes with a tasting of a desert wine and an interactive Q&A. $20. 6 p.m. City Winery.

Sunday March 17
Fernbank Forest Bird Walk
Bring your binoculars on a leisurely stroll through Fernbank Forest while keeping an eye out for the many birds that call the forest their home. Cost included with museum admission. 9 a.m. Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Pentagram
Pentagram is a true pioneer of heavy metal, formed in 1971 by Bobby Liebling in Alexandria, Virginia. The group’s most recent release, 2015’s Curious Volume is a crowd-pleaser for sure. Stretch your neck and be prepared for a greatest hits set of doom, stoner, and straight up heavy metal madness. With Brother Dege and Dirty Streets. $25. 7 p.m. The Earl.

Lords of Acid, Orgy, Genitorturers, Little Miss Nasty
Praga Khan and Co. of the Belgium-based Lords of Acid have a new album out, titled Pretty In Kink, but the world knows them best for the almighty “I must, I must, I must Increase My Bust!” Prepare yourself for an evening of straight up S&M rave music for dark souls.
