Mayor Bottoms re-opens ‘missing and murdered’ child killing investigations

Atlanta Headlines March 22, 2019

Atlanta Mayor Bottoms opened up a new investigation into the 1979-1981 killings that caused widespread fear in the city. Wayne Williams was convicted in two of these killings, but no one was ever charged with the murders of all 29. Though the police claim he was responsible for at least 23 of the murders, he was never tried for them, leaving many unanswered questions for the families of the victims.

Mayor Bottoms expressed a desire to use new forensic methods to provide any fresh details that can help families achieve closure, and bring justice for all 29 children. The mayor’s announcement comes as the Investigation Discovery channel prepares to priemier “The Atlanta Child Murders” this Saturday.
