NEWSBRIEF: Streetcar to Beltline Extension Coming
A May 27, 2021 meeting with MARTA suggests a 2027 extension of the Streetcar is in the works.
The streetcar expansion has transit enthusiasts dreaming of a light rail system connecting Atlanta’s urban neighborhoods. A May 27th meeting announced the public input phase of the efforts but subsequent information provided by MARTA suggests infrastructure money might speed up the dream.
Matthew Rao, Chairman of Beltline Rail Now, told Saporto Report’s John Ruch: “We are now talking about when and not if. And we are talking about how and not whether,” said Rao. “… So we are excited, conditionally. And everybody should be. This is a historic moment. That meeting, that was history.”
