NEWSBRIEF: Georgia Insurance Commissioner’s Trial Starts this Week

The Georgia Insurance Commissioner Jim Beck was suspended in May 2019 but continues to draw his salary. 

Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner, Jim Beck, is accused of the theft of $2 million to assist in his re-election campaign in 2018. He remains the Insurance Commissioner pending the outcome of the trial. If he is innocent, he will resume his duties. If guilty, he faces a prison sentence. The U.S. attorney’s office charged Beck with 38 counts in May 2019.
