NEWS BRIEF: Atlanta event on voting rights pressures Biden and senate to act

A day of action took place in Atlanta and other cities Friday, Aug. 6, hosted by the New Georgia Project Action Fund, to pressure President Biden and the U.S. Senate for passage of S.1., known as the For The People Act. According to a press release, the event in the Sweet Auburn district was the result of a partnership between the NGPAF and local Black and female-owned ice cream businesses that gathered signatures in support of S.1. while giving away free Biden-style aviator sunglasses and scoops of ice cream, said to be the president’s favorite snack. newgeorgiaproject.org
