NEWS BRIEF: Georgia schools listed in National Blue Ribbon honors

The 2021 list of National Blue Ribbon Schools includes a total of nine in Georgia. A press release attributed the recognition to “a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.” Schools in Alpharetta, Bishop, Cochran, Dawsonville, Decatur, Jefferson, Jonesboro, Peachtree City, and Suwannee made the cut. “This year’s cohort of honorees demonstrates what is possible when committed educators and school leaders create vibrant, welcoming, and affirming school cultures where rich teaching and learning can flourish,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov
