Public transportation in Atlanta could become faster, more convenient, and more equitable for underserved communities if a project at Georgia Tech gets rolling. The National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy have awarded a $1 million grant to pilot an On-Demand Multimodal Transit System that could “improve the performance and efficiency of public transportation for everyone in Atlanta.” The pilot program will kick off in MARTA’s jurisdictions of Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton counties, and the City of Atlanta. gatech.edu
