A pill to treat COVID-19 that was discovered by Emory University researchers will be reviewed for approval by the Food and Drug Administration. Pharmaceutical giant Merck asked the FDA Monday to authorize “an investigational oral antiviral drug” called Molnupiravir for use, making it the first drug in existence specifically made for treating the coronavirus. Merck is developing the drug after obtaining a license for it from Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory. apnews.com
