Selection of jury members has begun in Glynn County in the trial of three men accused in the death of Black jogger Ahmaud Arbery. Twelve jurors will be picked from a pool of up to 1,000 local residents. The three white defendants are each charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and seven other counts. They also face hate crime charges in a separate trial. State Rep. Carl Gilliard, who represents citizens of District 162, issued a statement on Monday urging calm and demanding justice. He also touted his authorship of House Bill 1603 which repealed Georgia’s “outdated and antiquated” citizen’s arrest law. bbc.com
