Ethics charges against former Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine have been thrown out of court after state officials waited too long to take action. Administrative law judge Ronit Walker ruled last week that the statute of limitations on misconduct had passed when ethics officials first started pursuing Oxendine in 2015. The ex-commissioner had been accused of using funds from his failed 2010 campaign for governor to buy a house and cars, and for accepting campaign contributions from insurance companies that were 10 times above the legal limit. usnews.com
