The move to turn Buckhead into a city got another push on Thursday as Alpharetta Republican State Sen. Brandon Beach filed legislation to officially kick off the process. If passed, Senate Bill 324 would be added to the ballot next November for a vote by residents. Beach has 12 Republican co-sponsors, none of whom actually represent Buckhead. “I believe it is now the time for citizens in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta to have the ability to determine for themselves whether to form their own city and establish services which would be more responsive to their needs,” Beach said upon filing. gpb.org
