NEWS BRIEF: Medical plant emissions causing cancer, lawsuit alleges
Emissions cause more than gas?
The emissions from a medical equipment sterilizer plant in Augusta are causing cancer, according to a lawsuit filed against Kendall Patient Recovery. The suit claims the plant emits a carcinogenic gas called ethylene oxide at levels high enough to cause breast cancer, miscarriages, and other ailments. The complaint alleges emissions from the plant are substantially greater than in recent years. Attorneys for KPR say no law has been broken regarding its emission levels, and that the complaint fails to establish the company is responsible for any illnesses. augustachronicle.com
