A lawsuit on voting rights filed three years ago by then-gubernatorial candidate Stacey
Abrams is finally headed to trial. The complaint alleges discrimination and suppression against voters during the midterm elections of 2018. US District Judge Steve Jones announced on Monday that the proceedings could begin on Feb. 7, 2022. “My first goal is to ensure both sides have a fair trial,” he said. “We need to bring this case to closure.” Fair Fight Action CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo added, “We look forward to continuing to share the stories of the unconstitutional barriers they have faced resulting from the malfeasance and deliberate indifference from the secretary of state.” atlantadailyworld.com
