A Sandy Springs man will serve 11 years in federal prison without parole for his part in a heroin distribution ring that operated between Atlanta and Macon. Michael Duffy, 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell on Nov. 30 after he previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess heroin with intent to distribute. The scheme poured up to 30,000 heroin doses into the region in just three months, according to the Justice Department. Seven other co-defendants received lesser sentences for their involvement in the ring. justice.gov
