Spelman College in Atlanta has received a $12 million endowment to advance its arts programs. The gift comes from the Lettie Pate Evans Foundation and will fund a new facility on campus, the Center for Innovation & the Arts, for students following courses in the arts, technology and entrepreneurship. The building will also house Spelman’s Center for Black Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab. Mary Schmidt Campbell, president of the college, said in a statement. “This new facility will be a dynamic learning environment that encourages Spelman students to master their chosen fields and utilize technology-inspired solutions to solve persistent urban problems.” newsone.com
