A man from Decatur will serve 55 months in prison after being convicted of forging prescriptions for dangerous drugs. Court documents show Raheem Hardy, 29, was the leader of a conspiracy ring that illegally obtained and sold large amounts of the addictive drug Oxycodone, among other opioids. Utilizing the names and registration numbers of a half dozen physicians, the fake prescriptions were filled at legitimate pharmacies across the South. Six co-defendants pleaded guilty and have been incarcerated. DEA Special Agent Robert Murphy said Hardy and his accomplices “had no business filling prescriptions for these highly sought-after pills. After this sentencing, other criminals have been put on notice that these illicit activities will lead to significant time behind bars.” justice.gov
