NEWS BRIEF: Emory medical school adds climate change to syllabus
Climate change now seen as health issue
The Emory School of Medicine is making climate change a formal part of its curriculum to ensure future doctors learn about the health impacts of a warming planet. Faculty advisor Dr. Becca Phillipsborn says the subject is part of “core knowledge” as opposed to a separate issue, and that it was the students themselves who pushed for global warming effects to be taught at Emory. “They came forward with the demand and said, ‘This is the greatest health challenge of our time; we need to be learning about it.’” wabe.org
