High School to Fire School: Firefighters look to Atlanta High Schoolers for help
A shortage of firefighters around the city is prompting Atlanta Fire & Rescue to reach out to high school graduates for help, with some career incentives thrown into the mix.
Officials are luring grads with the offer of a scholarship if they sign up for the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation’s recruitment program, which will “allow you to come in at 18 years old, make a $40,000 salary and, once you are done, we will step in with a college scholarship,” said executive Shirley Ann Smith. cbs46.com
