Going Green Georgia: Qcells to open $171 million solar panel production plant

South Korea-based Hanwha Solutions confirmed Thursday it’s planning to construct a new $171 million solar panel production plant near its current northwest Georgia facility in Whitfield County.

Hanwha, parent company of solar manufacturer Qcells, says the factory will produce 1.4 gigawatts of next generation, high efficiency solar panels annually and bring an estimated 470 new jobs to the Dalton area. Qcells’ existing facility already employs more than 750 workers. The new location is expected to open in early 2023. ajc.com
