NEWS BRIEF: Health fair set for June 11 in Clarkston
Community center site of temporary ‘clinic’
The Endocrine Society, the world’s oldest scientific organization devoted to hormone research, has partnered with Emory University and Grady Health to bring an in-person education event to Clarkston’s immigrant and refugee population, and others, that will focus on diabetes, obesity and heart health. The Society has more than 18,000 scientists, physicians, educators, nurses and students in 122 countries.
Free wellness activities being offered include diabetes and cholesterol screenings, food, kids' activities and healthy cooking demonstrations, a press release said. Free COVID vaccinations will also be available for children and adults. Attending clinicians from Emory University School of Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital will answer questions and provide advice.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Clarkston Community Center, 3701 College Avenue. endocrine.org
