NEWS BRIEF: Public safety conference set for Atlanta this month
Big Ideas Summit hits town June 16
People For the American Way will host its inaugural ‘Big Ideas Summit’ in Atlanta this month to address issues “impacting the nation’s communities, including the voting rights struggle and intimate discussions about the state of the U.S. policing system and transforming public safety,” the organization declared.
The three-day conference begins June 16 at the W Hotel downtown. Guests include dozens of prominent faith leaders, civil rights advocates, mayors and elected officials from across the country. A highlight of the summit will be the release of a new report, ‘All Safe: Transforming Public Safety’ that covers “the culture responsible for police violence and for the deaths of unarmed Black people.” pfaw.org
