Calling All High School Bands! Win $10,000 for your band program!

Local high schools are being encouraged to enter the second annual Great Atlanta Band Challenge by submitting a video of no more than five minutes in length of the school’s band playing a musical composition of their choice. The winning school gets a $10,000 check for its band programs.

“We often applaud students who excel in subjects like science or math, but it’s equally as important to support and stimulate those who express creativity through performing arts,” said GABC executive Amy Witherite in a press release. “With art and music programs being removed from academic curriculums around the nation, I’m encouraged that Atlanta has sustained its program and am excited to reward these bands for their hard work.”

Submissions are being accepted from June 27 until July 22. The contest is a collaboration of Witherite Law Group with 1-800-TruckWreck, Hot 107.9 and Majic 97.5. Winners will be notified in mid-August after votes have been tallied. Details: greatbandchallenge.com
