Two grassroots organizations aimed at preventing accidental drug overdoses are putting on a training session for the public in East Atlanta. Georgia Overdose Prevention and Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition will provide free guidance for administration of the reversal medication Narcan/Naloxone on Sunday, July 10 at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at The EARL, located at 488 Flat Shoals Avenue.

Training participants will receive a free Narcan/Naloxone kit, as well as
information on ways to recognize and treat an overdose. Data on related legalities will also be on hand. A press release says the work of both entities has contributed to more than 6,000 overdose reversals in Georgia. The rate of overdose deaths in the United States now stands at 100,000 annually, official figures show. Details: georgiaoverdoseprevention.org
