In collaboration with Central Library, the Auburn Avenue Research Library will host Giwayen Mata, a dynamic soul-stirring, all-sistah, percussion and vocal ensemble. The name Giwayen Mata means, “Elephant Leaders of Women” in the West African Hausa Language. This event will celebrate the Fifth Principle of Kwanzaa, NIA (Purpose), with a presentation by Ms. Makeba Johnson, who will facilitate the Communal Libation and Candle-Lighting Ceremony.
