Cinco de Mayo is, contrary to popular belief, not Mexican Independence Day. It is in fact a celebration of the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Cypress Street has themed the Cinco de Mayo menu to reflect this battle and will feature French beers that will “face off” against Mexican fare. From 10a.m. to 2 p.m. diners will choose from a three-course Mexican inspired menu. Aside from the holiday festivities, as always, there will be fourteen beers on tap and forty bottled selections.
