Since forming a few years back out of the ashes of Athens math-rock band Incendiaries, punk trio Motherfucker — comprised of singer and guitarist Erica Strout, drummer Erika Rickson, and bassist Mandy Branch — has established itself as one of the Classic City’s brashest and most buzzed-about musical exports. The group’s two releases to date, 2014’s Tae Kwon Do EP and last year’s Confetti full-length, are based on the noise-rock fundamentals of balls-to-the-wall riffage and walloping rhythms. The band’s lean, mean live show is one of its strongest assets. It’s also loud as hell, so don’t forget the earplugs.
