Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo have played an integral role in hip-hop’s evolution, bestowing rap music with an idiosyncratic quirkiness the genre hadn’t widely embraced before De La Soul’s arrival. With albums such as 1989’s 3 Feet High and Rising and 1991’s De La Soul is Dead the group built a legacy of intelligent, trendsetting song craft.The group takes a break from working on its latest album, And the Anonymous Nobody, to celebrate De La Soul Day.
