Integrating Rich’s: How the Atlanta Student Movement Changed the City

Monday March 24, 2014 08:00 PM EDT
Cost: FREE

From the venue:

In October 1960, the Atlanta Student Movement turned their attention to Rich’s Department Store and its white only dining facility, the Magnolia Room. The attempt by black students to gain entrance to the Magnolia Room was part of a much larger effort to integrate all of Atlanta’s downtown businesses. This evening’s program brings together women of the Atlanta Student Movement to share their memories of standing up to racism and injustice in the city that was supposedly too busy to hate. This panel discussion is free and open to the public.
