Japanese spazz rock group Peelander-Z has made a 15-year-long career of hysterical new wave and punk rock accompanied by a notoriously manic live show. Metalander-Z, the Nippon troupe’s eighth album, sees a sudden stylistic step away from its tried-and-true frantic synth-punk for riffs and hooks normally reserved for ’80s heavy metal. Peelander-Z rolls through Atlanta on Thurs., Oct. 3, with its signature color-coded costumes and newfound Iron Maiden posturing.
