Chomp and Stomp 2013

Saturday November 2, 2013 10:00 AM EDT
Cost: Free to attend. Spoon price $5

From the venue:

Every fall, a chili-hungry crowd descends on Cabbagetown Park. This year, the 11th annual Chomp and Stomp Chili Cook-off Festival returns Sat., Nov. 2, and the schedule is packed. The annual Romp and Stomp 5K race kicks things off at 7 a.m. The festival, which officially begins at 11 a.m., includes live bluegrass on three stages, an artists market, and the Cabbagetown games, with contests like cabbage shredding, bobbing for Brussels sprouts, and slaw eating. At 12:30 p.m., grab a $5 tasting spoon and head over to the chili rows and start grubbing. Last year there were 100 individual chilis, but contestants always run out so make sure you get there early. If you miss out on the chili, nearly 30 food vendors will be on site to make sure no one goes hungry. Pro tip: Take MARTA because parking is tricky. Hop off at King Memorial station and wait for the Fur Bus or Georgia Tech Trolley shuttling people over every 15 minutes.
