George Long solo exhibition "Omnium Gatherum"
From the venue:
Exhibiton up through May 12, 2018.
Solo exhibition by Atlanta artist George Long. George Long will install a 40 foot long pile of drawings depicting a mental landscape, that is a collection of collections, mental debris, emotional sortings and piles of compartmentalizations. These are drawings that explore what we hold on to. The exhibition title, "Omnium Gatherum", is defined as a “miscellaneous collection (as of things or persons)”. Long delivers with a delightful huge pile of bright and cartoony imagery. Stacks of mundane objects and body parts that are ubiquitous and un-remarkable in themselves are assembled as a collection that is humorous and poignant. Personal associations - memories, connections, emotions - are fired as we are invited to wander around in the pile.
