At the closing of 2008, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. The first ever black president in the country’s history. With hope and optimism high among financial crisis, black Americans looked forward to change in their fortunes.

Nathan Marshall felt his opportunity as a musician passed him by. But he saw this change as beginning for him. He had hopes for a better future for his wife Jessica and his son Nathan Jr., a high school student. He wondered if life would different for him and his family if he followed his heart for music. He gave up his dream to take care of his family. He followed the life lessons that being a man, husband, and father is to take care your family first. Although he put away his guitar for work gloves, the music was still in his heart.
