Since 1982, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles have spent a lifetime on the road, blasting packed out venues to the tune of loose and thrashing hardcore, and anti-establishment riffage of the highest order. Since fleeing their hometown of Houston, Texas on the heels of 1984’s The Dirty Rotten LP, singer Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy have stayed the course blending California hardcore and dystopian speed metal. Indeed such timeless classics as “Five Year Plan,” “Suit and Tie Guy,” “Thrashard,” and more raised the bar high for thrash metal and hardcore. The arrival of 2016’s But Wait There’s More EP brought a marked return to D.R.I.’s hardcore roots. The full-bodied reboot given to old-school favorites “Mad Man” and “Couch Slouch” blend seamlessly with all points from throughout a 36-year career defined by albums such as Dealing With It, Crossover, Four of a Kind, Thrash Zone and beyond. With an arsenal of timeless, high-speed headbangers under their belt — “I’d Rather Be Sleeping,” “Five Year Plan,” “Suit and Tie Guy,” “Against Me,” et al. — D.R.I. always delivers the goods.
