Celebrate the Great Charis Read-a-thon!

For 44 years Charis has been a home for your stories. Now, more than ever, we need brave stories, proud stories, honest stories, and yes, joyful stories. Charis is committed to being your feminist home away from home--an oasis, but also a place where you can remember why you do the work you do, why you love the things you love, why you fight for the things you know are right.
Books are at the heart of all that we do because books change lives. Books remind us that our history is full of survivors and everyday heroes and books help us dream futures that our ancestors could never have imagined. Books are inherently radical objects--both utterly of their time and completely outside of it, they are still the only way we know how to time travel or to step into another person’s experience. As we enter into the final stages of our capital campaign to build our new home at Agnes Scott College, we could ask you to help us fundraise by running or baking or dancing but of course we think we should raise money by doing what we do best: reading! Support the Charis Circle Read-a-thon by donating to one of #charisreads marathon reading team members or by becoming a team member yourself and soliciting donations from your friends and family. Or drop in Charis with your kids between 12-5pm on Saturday and listen to Charis co-owner Angela Gabriel read aloud 100 children’s books in an epic feat of story time strength! Donate in the store with cash or credit card and listen with your family while cheering Angela all the way to 100 books! Then follow along throughout the day and night as we continue reading for 24 straight hours to celebrate Charis and the power of stories in our community. Get started now by making your own profile and setting a goal or by donating to an existing Charis team member’s goal.
