Freddie Gibbs and G. Perico play the Masquerade Nov. 29
From the venue:
Freddie Gibbs has been around the block a time or two. The rapper born Fredrick Tipton was raised in Gary, Indiana, signed and dropped by Interscope, redeemed by Jeezy’s CTE World label, and is now the proprietor of his own label, ESGN Records. Through it all, Gibbs has developed a singularly gritty and street-smart lyrical style that came into sharp focus with the arrival of his 2014 album Piñata (Madlib Invazion).
After releasing not one, but two new records this year, a trap-inspired mixtape homage to Teddy Pendegrass, titled Freddie, and a collab with Curren$y and the Alchemist, titled Fetti, Gibbs is on the road and firing on all cylinders. This Nov. 29 show with early-’90s West Coast G-funk torchbearer G. Perico is not to be missed.
