From the venue:

Amen Dunes revealed its latest incarnation as a shimmery dance outfit earlier this year with the release of March’s Freedom LP. The ever-evolving musical project of New York’s Damon McMahon, Amen Dunes was born of improvisation, beginning with a series of home recordings in 2006. In the decade since, McMahon, along with rotating collaborators, has embraced a variety of styles and influences, from stark folk dissonance to lush, cinematic compositions, all while maintaining an air of mystery and detachment. Freedom finds McMahon shrugging off the haze that permeated previous Amen Dunes efforts in favor of danceable, expansive tracks. Album standouts “Blue Rose” and “Miki Dora,” while hooky and alluring, retain McMahon’s cryptic tendencies with hallucinogenic undertones and unnerving trills. — Emily Maxwell
