D-DAY COMMEMORATION FEATURING RICK ATKINSON

D Day
Atlanta History Center
Wednesday May 22, 2019 07:00 PM EDT
Cost: Free

From the venue:

The Atlanta History Center and World War II Foundation host a special evening to honor the courage displayed on June 6, 1944 to liberate German-occupied France (and later Europe) from Nazi control.

Author Rick Atkinson, a Pulitzer Prize winner in history and journalism, will be interviewed about D-Day, its significance and relevance. Atkinson will be interviewed by Tim Gray, noted documentary filmmaker and founder of the World War II Foundation. After working as a newspaper reporter, editor and foreign correspondent for The Washington Post, Atkinson turned to writing military history. His six books include accounts of four American wars.

This evening will also include special recognition of the late Wright Bryan, former editor of the Atlanta Journal, who was the first news person to provide an eyewitness account of D-Day when he was an NBC radio stringer.

Due to the generosity of our sponsors this event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required and capacity is limited.
Special thanks to our program sponsors: Delta Air Lines, ZWJ Investment Counsel, and Jackson Spalding
