Dr. Paige Gray will discuss the history and influence of picture books and children’s literature, as well as the ways in which these texts both reflect and shape our ideas about childhood and how Maira Kalman’s work figures into this trajectory. Gray is a professor of liberal arts at the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her book, Cub Reporters: American Children’s Literature and Journalism in the Golden Age, is forthcoming from SUNY Press in 2019.
