The original U.K. Squeeze stood out among the late ’70s new wave bands based on their very melodic pop sound and incredibly witty lyricism. Co-founders Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford have maintained a high level of songwriting craftsmanship for almost five decades, and the consistency has kept the fans coming back for more every year. Both have done solo projects over their careers, but it always seems that the sum is greater than the parts. Being quirky, funny, and poignant all at the same time makes for some entertaining moments. L.A. punk staple X also performs. — James Kelly
