From the venue:

Breaking through amongst the recent surge of UK buzz bands like black midi and Fontaines D.C., Pottery’s flavor of jittery dance-pop is truly something to behold. After making waves across the pond, the quintet delivered their debut EP No. 1 in May. Citing the likes of Orange Juice, DEVO, and Josef K as their key influences, the group exercises a steady dose of guitar-noodling and psych-induced freakouts to keep the mind buzzing. On standout track “Hank Williams,” a tune detailing the late country singer’s first time taking speed, the group twists and turns with enough hooks and yelping vocals to edge on complete delirium. An excitable bunch to boot, Pottery’s updated take on the post-punk mold makes them one of the promising new bands of the year. — JAKE VAN VALKENBURG
