Mike Watt is one of the most earnest, honest, salt-of-the earth figures to emerge from SST Records’ roster of bedrock West Coast punk and beyond. Watt left his mark on the world playing bass and singing with the Minutemen and Firehose; in recent years he’s taken the stage with the Stooges and Flipper. Through it all, he’s left a litany of albums in his wake, blending hardcore, punk, funk, and free jazz. For this cross-country trek, dubbed the “Dick Watt Tour” (named after Watt’s father), longtime cohort and guitarist Tom Watson and young drummer Nick Aguilar keep the music moving forward under the Missingmen moniker. — Chad Radford
