From the venue:

When she was Marina and the Diamonds, you might have known her for her antagonistic take on teenybopper-pop. The Welsh singer’s first two albums took new wave, electronic beats, feminism, and sociology to pop music, creating the tongue-in-cheek indie-pop that rocketed her to stardom. Now, she’s taking her famous mezzo-soprano vocals and knack for sharp songwriting to new horizons. While her former album Froot (Atlantic Records UK) showed the beginning of this transition, her newest album LOVE + FEAR (Atlantic Records UK), comes with the loss of “the Diamonds,” and the emergence of a mature popstar; MARINA. With less ambiguous lyrics and processed instrumentals, her new music reflects on love and what it means to be human when the world is falling apart. In today’s culture, this emotional vulnerability comes as a welcome triumph. -- Narah Landress
